Description:

**This course will be presented online as a live webinar in three 2-hour sessions. Sessions will be recorded and will be available to all enrolled attendees.**

All classes will be from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Pacific (10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mountain) (11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central) and (12 p.m.-2 p.m. Eastern). Registrants will receive login information no later than 48 hours before the start of the first session.

This webinar is being presented by Sustainable City Networks and NWETC.

Access databases are more than just data tables. An Access database includes a collection of objects that all work together to perform specific tasks quickly and efficiently. By building on the knowledge gained in part one of this course, we will create highly efficient customized workflows that can reduce complex data processing and reporting tasks down to a single click.

This is the second course in a 2-part series. In "Introduction To Building Environmental Databases With Microsoft Access-WEBINAR (COMP-401W)", students learn the basic elements of constructing queries, forms, macros and reports. In this recommended follow up, you will build on those skills by creating end-user application examples that bring the newly learned elements together. Access analytic tools, PivotCharts, and PivotTables will be introduced, and an SQL primer will be included. NOTE: COMP-402W is not meant to be taken as a stand-alone class without first taking COMP-401W.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

Apply complex query functions to databases
Create and design pivot charts and pivot tables
Perform complex queries using multiple tables
Create tools for forms and reports
Build multi-step macros for automating tasks

Prerequisites:

Completion of COMP-401W: Introduction to Managing Environmental Data with Microsoft Access 2010-WEBINAR.

Attendees will receive a .pdf containing workshop proceedings and reference material. Webinar login instructions will be sent after registration.

Intended Audience:

This course is beneficial for any professional who works with a large amount of data, and needs to improve their Access skills to be able to make the most of the power of the software. Past attendees include environmental managers, engineers, field staff, scientists, and government agency staff.

What to Bring

Attendees should have a computer with an internet connection, and a headset or speakers are recommended. Further instructions will be provided after registration.

In order to guarantee a space in a course, the tuition must be paid in full TWO WEEKS before the first day of the course by either check or credit card. State and government agencies paying with a purchase order are allowed payment under the two-week time frame if a copy of the purchase order is received by NWETC.
